YES! WE ARE IN!
However some things are still not done......
Since my body has given me one nasty cold, and I feel like a truck has run over me, I have time to update the blog. We finally moved in the last weekend in March! NOW, just because we have moved in does not by any stretch of the imagination mean that the house is done. What it means is, that we have one working toilet, fully working kitchen and hot water all through the house! I'll give a quick overview of what was going on in those last couple weeks.
Then of course because the painting is never done, I had to put 3 coats of paint on the base boards. Then they went in.
Now some exciting stuff. Then kitchen cabinets and counters. Here is Curt's drawing of the kitchen cabinets.
Ours our being made by some guy named Erik, not big foot Erick, a different one. Big Foot Erik just had a little girl, well Kati did, but that is a whole other story. So anyway, Cabinet Erik is doing a great job, it just seems to take for FREAKING ever. But they look wonderful.
Then after Erik gets the cabinets in the stone guys come. We used Creative Stoneworks. They are always really nice to work with. First we went down to Meta in Seattle and picked out our stone. We choose a quartzite from India. Looks like this. I think it's nice because it has the grey of the floor, some white and then tan of the cabinets.
Then you go to the stone shop and figure out where you want the counters to be cut out of the stone. I'm not that picky. I like all the stone....
But Curt is.
Then they bring it to your house and install it. It's pretty cool to watch.
At the same time they did the master bath. We were lucky enough to have this piece leftover from one of Curt's jobs, and it fits in both of our bathrooms. And I love it.
So the master bath is almost done. It has teak cabinets. but until the whole thing is done, no more pictures. It's just kinda messy now.
We also had to spend some time grinding down the hearth. We had the wrong finish on it. This is Curt's lovely home made apron.
I helped with the Duct Tape!
However it looks great now.
Curt hooked up my washer and dryer yesterday. I've been doing 3 weeks worth of laundry ever since.
I was somewhat worried he would get stuck in there.
But I do love the laundry room. Mainly because it's attached to the closet!!!
Not far to walk to put the clothes away! YAY!
Master bath is not quite finished yet, we can take a shower and all but I'll take pictures when it's done. Same with the guest bath. It needs some work, I'll let you all know when we can have guests.
Also the guest rooms is a bit crammed with boxes at the moment....
There is still an entertainment center that gets put into the living room, it will divide it from the dinning room a little bit. I'll post pictures of that when it's done. Also the mantel on the fire place and the pantry is not done. But it's looking like a home.
Also, that dinning room light! It came like this.
I had to unwrap all those little buggers.
But I like it.
So that's it for now. I'll update as more things get done. I think the patio gets started this week too. But as far as a rush, no more. We can take our time. I know your all thinking, hey you already took forever. And that is true, but we have done a ton of the work ourselves and made it affordable for us. So stay tuned to the rest of the project....
