INSIDE WALLS!!

So they are finally starting to work seriously on the inside of the house now. All of the walls have been framed in, so you can get a picture of all the rooms as you walk around.

This picture is taken from the living room toward the front door. It's also the kitchen and the area with the slanted window is the pantry.

This is looking from the dining room into the kitchen. You can tell where the kitchen is because of the plumbing in the floor. That is where the sink is going to go in the island. And speaking of plumbing!!! As you know our huge frustration with the plumber. They also put the sink plumbing in the wrong place. So under our sink the pipes will be right in front, instead of the back, like normal! Seriously, you'd think the marijuana law had already passed.

From the picture above you can see this window. It's a SMALL hallway that goes to the guest bath. Directly across from the door is the guest bedroom door.

This one is from the kitchen looking into the living room.

And this one is from the dinning room looking into the living room.

This is the wall in the living room where the fireplace goes. It's a big one!

Here you can see the clear story in the living room and the way it connects into the dinning room. There should be lots of light!

These two are the dinning room looking from the kitchen. The big open space is 3 very large window, with one that opens onto the patio.

This is a picture of the clear story above the dinning room.

This is the hallway to the bedrooms. I'm standing in front of where the fireplace goes.

Guest Bedroom. Really not much to say about this, other than I can't wait to have people visit us!

Office space/Sewing room. This was taken from the master bedroom.

These 3 are the Master Bedroom. You can see that the window is are in the corners along with a clear story. It has a really pretty view of the forest and ravine. The master bathroom is not quite worthy of photos yet.

Here is a picture of the outside by the master bedroom and bathroom. I just think it looks cool.

I have to say, it's kinda hard to explain things at this point since it's all just framing. It really is a perfect house for us. I can't wait until it's done.

Roof is almost done!

So the sheeting is all on the roof and also a product that is called ice and shield, that keeps the water out. The lower roof does not get the same thing that's why it's tented still. It gets a insulation that slopes a bit.

I took some pictures of the back of the house this time. I'm standing on the road that runs right by the house. Our driveway turns off of it. You can see that when the metal roof arrives, it's a brownish grey color, that the house will almost blend in from this side. Kinda cool.

And just because I couldn't believe it. Here is picture of the snow we got last week at the house. None in town, the house is just that much higher and colder.

More Roof!

Well almost all of it really! At least all the joists are up and it's really starting to look like a house!!In the last blog they had put the joists over the back bedrooms. For the front room and kitchen of the house we had to bring in a boom truck and a giant steel beam, which we had to wait 2 weeks to arrive...

Here you can see the boom truck moving the beam into place.
It's a span of about 30 feet and is where the clear story over the kitchen is and then the dinning room starts, which has a lower celling.

It took a few people to get it set in place, here you can see my new BFF Eric and Larry who is helping with the framing!

Once the beam was all set, stablilized and in place they started on the rest of the joists. This is the roof over the kitchen and living area.

In this picture you can see how the steel beam holds up the roof.

Next they had to add the joists to the lower roof over the dinning room and just outside the dinning room. In these two pictures you can see how the steel beam ends the clear story and then the lower roof. From the inside.

And from the outside.

And here is a pretty good over view of the entire look.

So you can see it's all very exciting now because it's starting to look like a real house!!! There's Pippin working hard in the yard. Not quite sure what he is doing but probably searching for leftover lunch bits from the builders......

Also you can see that our lovely weather has gone to smash and we are well and truly in the rainy season. BLEAH!
